Description

The son of a famous pianist, music student Shinichi Chiaki dreams of studying abroad and becoming a conductor like his mentor. Unfortunately, his fear of flying grounds his lofty plans! As he watches other classmates achieve what he has always wanted, Shinichi wonders if he should quit music altogether.

Then one day he meets fellow student Megumi Noda, also known as Nodame. This oddball girl cannot cook or clean, and she can't even read a music score, but she can play the piano in incomparable Cantabile style. And she teaches Shinichi something that he has forgotten: to enjoy his music, no matter where he is.

"I got hooked :D" by Elisa Jokinen (Finland) on Jun 27, 2010

I bought this manga in sale just to have something to read, but I fell in love with it! Nodame Cantabile has lots of comedy and romance in it, and it's perfect for those who're into music also. It's a shame that you can't hear the music associated with the manga, but it gives high hopes for the anime. The characters are great, and it's especially nice to follow goofy Nodame and cool Shinichi's relationship.

"Funny!" by Toyah Boot (Nederland) on Mar 5, 2009

This series combines great humor with classical music. And a great combination it is indeed! The style of this manga might be something you have to get used to a little, but i would definitely give it a go!

":D" by mirichan (Nederland) on Jun 6, 2008

this is such a cute serie! the story really draws you in and the characters are really well done. I watched the anime but the manga is definitely waiting on my list!

"Worth it" by Day (Nederland) on Oct 27, 2007

A very cute and loveable manga. I first saw the anime, but loved it so much I decided to buy the manga. I think the manga is even better than the anime, in fact. ^-^ Definately worth it!

"It's so fun~!" by Onigiri-chan (Nederland) on Aug 13, 2007

Everyone in Nodame Cantabile has a strange personality so it's always funny. I saw the anime but I'm gonna read the manga for sure! The art isn't really what I normally like but it fits the image. I used to hate classic but now I like it more xD I reccomend this to.. well, to everyone!

"Sooo Funny!" by Ying (Sweden) on Apr 11, 2007

Megumi-chan.....Her room is a mess, she smells funny, she's a lunchbox thief, she's strange but yet a very likable character! ^_^
Chiaki on the other hand is handsome, popular, can cook...Kinda the opposite.

The manga is more about Chiaki in the begining, Nodame is more lika parasite! (poor guy!) ^_^'
Not much romance for a shojo manga. (At least not yet)

Nodame Cantabile is very funny. The artwork isn't great but well suited.
A manga about classical music may not sound that interesting but believe me IT IS! Higly recommended!

"One of the best comical manga of the 21st Century!" by seimei (Belgique) on May 14, 2006

Nodame Cantabile is one of the best comical series that I've read in my life. Humor is so fresh, refine and not anticipated. There are many good words games. The art is fine and modern. The story isn't like others shôjos manga, so boys can enjoy to read it too. Here, the main character is the guy and he has a millstone round his neck: Nodame. Every other character in the manga is a little odd too, so this manga is always funny and touching to read.

The translation and adaptation work of Del Rey is perfect and it makes really pleasant to read the story. So, if you want to read an untypical shôjo manga and have a lot of fun with it, read Nodame Cantabile, you won't regret it.
