As a Guardian of Death, Asato Tsuzuki has a lot to think about. First of all, there are all those dead people. Someone's got to escort them safely to the afterlife. Then there's all that bureaucracy. The affairs of death come with a lot of paperwork, budgetary concerns and endless arcana. Combining supernatural action with heavy dollops of romance and humor, descendants of Darkness proves one thing: Death is big business...and business is good!

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5perfection - 02 Jul, 2010

I do not know why but the first time I read this series I fell instantly in love with it. Maybe because of the beautiful art, maybe because of the deep and loveable characters, the villains or the wonderful story...maybe because it's so easy for the reader to relate to the main characters: Hisoka, a shy but temperamental 16 year old boy and Tsuzuki a "grown up" (notice the " ") with a very big heart. Both have a terrible past, and both try to cope with it in their own way: Hisoka by pushing everyone away, Tsuzuki by helping whoever he can. And then there is Muraki, the "super villain" of the series who is ...very fascinating at least... Whatever it is that draws the reader to it the fact remains that this is a series you HAVE to read, whether for the shonen-ai romance, the suspence or the mythical elements...5 stars more than deserved

an amazing volume. In this volume you meet Tsuzuki on a whole different level then you know him in the anime. Evne when you have seen the Anime, the manga has so many hidden things that are just waiting for you to be read. The drawings are awesomely and the artwork in general is fantastic. A must have for any Yami no Matsuei fan!

I simply love YNM. I first saw the Anime and already fell in love with it, but as soon as I had finished this first manga, my love grew even deeper. The first manga starts off with a story that wasn't included in the anime, so that suprised me in a good way. Then the story of the Nagasaki murders starts, and so the first 3 episodes of the anime are included here. Some things are quite different from the anime, but that just gave me a good feeling between familiar recognitions and newgrown interest. For those who haven't seen any of the anime or haven't read other manga's from this serie: I can totally recommend it to you. Maybe you have to be a little interested in shounen-ai, but even when you (try) to ignore that, the stories are thrilled with action and great humour and the artworks just make you drool... ^_~ I promise you'll never regret buying these manga's!

A must-have for all shounen-ai lovers! This great story offers a perfect blend of action, romance, mystery and much more! The characters are all very interesting and you may even fall in love with the nastiest character in this series: Dr. Muraki.
