This is by far one of the best manga I've ever read.
In the beginning I thought "Oh, this is one of those hack-'em-and-slash- 'em manga" but believe me, it's much, much more than that.

Since this is a very long series (23 and still on-going) you'll meet a lot of characters so sometimes I got a bit confused as to who is who, but don't let that hold you back. If you're a fan of other samurai-manga such as Lone Wolf and Cub and Vagabond this is a must.
All of the characters are very real, they have their strenghts and weaknesses just like every human being. Most of them have a very deep background and once you get to know them more and more, you'll see even the guy you thought was a total asshole before in a new light.

The art is just splendid. Hiroaki Samura draws action scenes very well and the surroundings look beautiful too. His style is a bit sketchy but very realistic and it fits this manga perfectly.
Though I have to warn that this is not a manga for people with a weak stomach, it'll get bloody in no time.

The plot seems a bit weird at first (main character being immortal thanks to... well, something creepy and slimy) but once you're in, you'll want to continue reading. When I was reading volume 1 I was blown away.

This is a must-read.

This is definitely one of my favourite mangas ever. Beautiful art, spectacular fight scenes and also a very good plot carried by questions about revenge and forgiveness.

In short:
Rin's parents get murdered by the leader of a rivalling dojo in revenge for his grandfather being kicked out of their dojo. Rin hires Manji, a cursed immortal that has to kill 1000 bad men to get back his mortality, as a bodyguard and sets out to get revenge on every man that had a part in the murder of her parents.

Blade of the Immortal is a great serie that I enjoy very much. Fight scenes are often drawn very beatifully. If you like Lone Wolf and Cub you should try this one too.

What's special about this manga is that it isn't mirrored as usually even though you read from left to right. Instead every image panel is moved from right to left. Then you can read it from left to right but the images aren't mirrored.
