"A strong, if slightly rushed conclusion." by V. Krätke (Netherlands) on Feb 8, 2007

A lot of manga drag out the final confrontation between the protagonist and the chief villain for as long as possible. God Child does exactly the opposite, packing a grandiose final battle into a single volume. At times, there's so much going on from one page to the next that the reader starts to feel a bit lost. It wouldn't be right to reveal any of this volume's surprises here. Let's just say that there's a lot more to God Child's final volume than a struglle to beat the final villain. Rather than the tired good-against-evil battle, it's about these deeply scarred characters coming to terms with their inner demons. It's grand, violent and very dramatic, with a good number of unexpected twists. The art is as gorgeous as ever, with plenty of sumptuous details and twisted, macabre sights. Part of me wishes Kaori Yuki had taken a little more time to flesh out some parts of the ending. At times, things move so fast that it all becomes rather blurry. But when you consider how stale and slow a lot of long-running manga can get, I'm happy with the brisk and action-packed conclusion to this highly enjoyable series.
