"Finally, something actually happens." by V. Kr├Ątke (Netherlands) on Jun 11, 2006

After a long string of filler episodes, we're finally treated to a few new developments in this batch of episodes. There is some filler material on this disc; the first two episodes are just re-threads of the same formula yet again. But they're fairly enjoyable episodes with decent art quality. Then there's a two-episode arc dealing with the Amazon Trio's dramatic final struggle, which is one of SuperS's stronger moments. In pretty much every season of Sailor Moon, the active villain is replaced once every few episodes (usually through backstabbery from his fellow villains). The new villain then proceeds to pick on targets in a slog of pretty much identical filler episodes. The same thing happens here; the Amazon Trio are sent packing by the Dead Moon Circus's top brass, only to be replaced by the devious Amazoness Quartet. However, the Trio's heartfelt final moments are poignant and the Amazoness Quartet grab one's attention with their lurid designs and playfully malicious nature. The disc ends with an episode focusing on Ami where she ends up gaining new powers as Sailor Mercury. The quality of the art and animation, by Sailor Moon's shoestring standards at least, remains fairly solid throughout and each episode has its fair share of gripping moments. This is one of the better SuperS discs to buy, because something actually seems to be going on in these episodes instead of the same filler episode formula being repeated ad nauseam. With its price having dropped to such an affordable level, this is really a no-brainer purchase for any Sailor Moon fan. Six episodes in all their uncut, Japanese-language dialogue with a few real gems among them is pretty good stuff for such a small amount of money.
