"Yay!" by Muffistic (België) on Apr 25, 2008

I' m glad i started this manga. I always heard it's an average manga, and it indeed was... the 1st volume! The next volumes are much better! not tht this volume sucked, but it wasn't that exciting etc... Still, you already started to like the characters in this volume. That's why i see it more like an introduction volume (what the 1st volume is supposed to be most of the time) and nothing more or less. There doesn't happen that much in this volume, but there does happen enough. You get to know the characters, and it introduces you to the story. recommended!

"Enjoyable and freaky" by Remco van Wingerden (Nederland) on Sep 15, 2007

Immortal Rain is one of the first few manga's I ever read. First I thought it was a nice little story about a girl and an immortal man who would end up having an unlikely relationship. It's not though. After a couple of volumes the story becomes more complex and leaves you with an unnerving feeling. It has a beautiful drawing style, compelling characters and a storyline that gets to you. It's not your average manga like for example a Shonen Jump title, but it's a manga that you will want to read to the end, because it's unique in it's telling of the story, it's atmosphere and the uneasy feeling it can leave you with.

Immortal Rain follows an immortal being called Methuselah. A young girl is haunting him after her grandfather the grim reaper died without success. Machika is presented as a stereotype girl, lots of courage and stupidity, who keeps following Methuselah wherever he goes. She is not really after the bounty, she just wants to succeed where her grandfather failed. She does grow feelings for him when he saves her and he tells her his real name is Rain. She is the only one who calls him that.
Machiki is quite the stereotype heroine, which I think is the downside of the mnaga. Rain is not a real stereotype immortal. He is not as evil as they say, but he does not care to harm someone to save another. It is an easy manga and it is funny to see how Rain keeps letting himself get captured and then escapes easily again.
