"Het word alleen maar beter" by Mirai (Netherlands) on Feb 4, 2006

Op deze tweede dvd gaat het verhaal rustig verder. Het is niet een serie die je even kijkt. Hij is best moeilijk om te kijken als je er niet van houd een beetje na te denken bij wat je te zien krijgt.

"Welcome to the world of the Haibane .." by Zeiroid (Netherlands) on Sep 12, 2004

Nobody knows who they are and what their purpose is in this surrealistic life. They just try to make the best of it until it is time to leave the city and go beyond the walls that protects them and keeps them captive at the same time.

The second installment of Haibane Renmei continues in the same slowpaced yet refreshing mood as the first DVD about angel-like creatures who try to find out what they are and why they are here .. This time, things are getting darker as Rakka becomes more confused about her life as a Haibane
when Kuu suddenly leaves 'forever'. Not knowing why we are here and not being able to remember the people who care for us, drives Rakka more and more into depression. But even though you don't know who you are, you still have to live on ..

From the same maker of Serial Experiment Lain, this is one anime you should force yourself to watch: Tender, fragile and at times tragic but also warm, peaceful with subtle humor and just plain beautiful. It's definitely not as hard to digest as Serial Experiment Lain. The whole world of Haibane Renmei is surrealistic but it feels so close as you see Haibane and normal people living amongst each other. Especially the little things in life like the fact that 'Haibane' need to make their own 'gloves' for their wings are done so subtle in a way you can't forget .. Recommended for the feel-good people who want something slowpaced and heartwarming.
