Italy somewhere in 1920s. It is the beginnig of the golden age of aviation. The air pirates plague the skies. But, in addition to army air corps, there is one brave individual to oppose them; a bounty hunter called Porco Rosso, Crimson Pig, a World War veteran who one day turned into a pig.
This is the movie where you can see Miyazaki's love for flying. All the airplanes are well detailed and flying scenes are dynamic and well animated. The plot is also nicely done, dramatic and comic, althoughthe ending may be bit too open for someone's taste.
Still, Porco Rosso is strongly recommended for all the Ghibli fans and especially those who love airplanes, like me.

Great story, as expected. It's Ghibli / Hayao Miyazaki after all.
