When the sun sets, the hunt goes on! Written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Ninja Scroll, Wicked City), based on a novel by Hideyuki Kikuchi, the story revolves around D, the infamous "dunpeal" (born of a vampire father and a human mother) outcast and renowned vampire hunter. His prowess at hunting the creatures of the night allowing him acceptance among humans, he is called upon to locate Charlotte Elbourne, the lovely daughter of an affluent family who has been mysteriously kidnapped. Charlotte's father offers a rich bounty, be she dead or alive, a task D willingly accepts, even with the notorious Markus brothers and their gang of bounty hunters seeking the prize as well. Amidst the chase and unknown to all lurks a sinister evil which has been secretly manipulating their every move and has set a chilling trap that none will expect and few will survive. With the tables turned and the secrets revealed, the hunters could quickly become the hunted! Approximate running time: 103 minutes.

"Better than the first one?" by Ilkka Riekki (Finland) on Oct 7, 2004

I think Bloodlust is a bit better than the first movie. I rank both movies quite high on my favourites. D's left hand is indeed irritating sometimes but that's part of the fun I think...

I liked the idea that the vampires used to travel in space.

Would it be cool to get movie or serie about vampires travelling in space (but not like Star Trek ;-)

"very good animemovie" by Joke Koops (Nederland) on Nov 4, 2003

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is one of the best English dubbed animes I've ever seen. The style is weird but amazing detailed, and it isnt necessary to watch the original Vampire Hunter D to understand the story. D's left hand is a little bit irritating, but most of the characters in this movie are very interesting (and a little bit scary)
