The life-or-death dodgeball match between Laser and Gon's team is brought to a close in this volume. It's a slice of Hunter X Hunter at it's finest, with lots of bizarre powers and inventive ways to use them. It always takes more than just brute force to overcome trials in Hunter X Hunter, and Laser's game of dodgeball is no exception. The cunning strategies diplayed by both sides of the conflict are truly surprising and serve to make the action that much more intense.
After the match against Laser, we're treated to a few startling revelations about Gon's father, the phantom brigade, and even Greed Island itself. Then it's on to prepare for a showdown with the diabolical Genthru, which looks set to be one extraordinarily fierce battle for Gon and his comrades.
This is page-flipping action all the way through with buckets of twists and turns to keep you on edge. You never know quite what tricks Togashi has up his sleeve, and that is probably the greatest of Hunter X Hunter's many qualities. It's an exemplary manga deserving nothing less than the most glowing recommendation.
