#1 New York Times Bestseller

The reader will experience the story from Batman's viewpoint on pages 108-117.

Following his ground-breaking, critically acclaimed run on Detective Comics, writer Scott Snyder (American Vampire) alongside artist Greg Capullo (Spawn) begins a new era of The Dark Knight as with the relaunch of Batman, as a part of DC Comics-The New 52!

After a series of brutal murders rocks Gotham City, Batman begins to realize that perhaps these crimes go far deeper than appearances suggest. As the Caped Crusader begins to unravel this deadly mystery, he discovers a conspiracy going back to his youth and beyond to the origins of the city he's sworn to protect. Could the Court of Owls, once thought to be nothing more than an urban legend, be behind the crime and corruption? Or is Bruce Wayne losing his grip on sanity and falling prey to the pressures of his war on crime?

Collects issues #1-7 of Batman.

"Page-turner introduction" door Teo (Romania) op 20 jan. 2017

First off, allow me to start by saying that I haven't tried reading Batman comics before. I have dabbled in comics; I have dabbled in titles about other Batman / Gotham City characters; but the crazy issue numbers of Batman and Detective Comics have always scared me away. Until now. While the New 52 may have its faults, the truth is that it served as an entry point for new readers - myself included. Now, the thing that REALLY attracted me to this book (and the next ones in the series) is not the "entry-point" thing, but the wonderful artwork. Yes, Greg Capullo's style made me finally decide to get over how intimidatingly huge the Batman world is, and finally dive in. And oh, what a great story I picked to start with! The Court of Owls is mysterious, it's dark, it's creepy and it feels like a real match to Bruce Wayne's poor, battered Batman - while also being original! But even if the Owls don't get you excited about turning the page, then at least the ARTWORK must be worth the time... This man has an amazing style and I know I'll at least be around for the rest of the New 52 run, even if just for the art itself.

I haven't read batman before. Of cause I know him form movies and television, but I haven't gone into the comics. I'm soooo glad I did. The art is ok, but the story in this one. Wauw. I haven't read any super hero stuff this dark. And i LOVE it. You get som background stuff on Gotham, and the city itself playes a integral part of the story. I always though of batman, ass asmuch a setting and a characher, and this TP moves the city into the foreground.
