5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5Rough, edgy, sexy, brilliant. - 15 Jun, 2012

FOR THE LOVE OF COMICS PLEASE KEEP MAKING THESE WINICK AND MARCH! THE CAT AT HER FINEST! That being said; yes, before I even begin, let me just tell you, it is, that good. Though I still have my questions around the whole New 52 Series, this one is definitely perfectly executed. Not only is the comic refreshing, it’s just right. Winick really gives us a rough survival story, without giving too much away, this isn’t the Catwoman from the past few years. She’s not a hero, nor a villain, she’s a thief, exactly what Catwoman was always meant to be, on no one’s side but her own. The story really is down to earth and a great fun read from page to page and you won’t be able to put it away. And March just gives us the perfect, intense, detailed and sexy art which suits the story and the overall new Catwoman series just brilliantly. Of course we’ve seen this before…in the first volume of Gothan City Sirens; also featuring March as the artist along with a brilliant writer. And that series spiraled down into a painful disappointment once Dini and March left it. However March is on an even better role with the new Catwoman, Selina is reintroduced to her roots as a thief and the amazing art really lifts the story and the comic to a whole other level. The comic is rough, tough, violent and sexy. This is an adult comic book, a Catwoman book as it should be and a great addition to the franchise. The fights are intense and have a real, edgy and violent feel and look to them we only get to see very rarely these days, especially with a female lead. However it’s perfectly executed and even Selina’s edgier side is just brilliant, not to mention her raw sex appeal…speaking of which… This isn’t a Batman story; he doesn’t come to the rescue and is only featured briefly. However his impact is mysterious and dark. However the chemistry between Batman and Catwoman has—arguably—never been drawn and written so natural. There’s an intense attraction between them that we’ve been missing for too many years. In the end Catwoman is the one true girl for Batman, always has been, always will be. There’s a chemistry between them that our Dark Knight doesn’t have with anyone else. But ever since the HUSH story and a few brief moments in recent years, their dangerous and flirty relationship has never been put in a comic again. It almost seemed as if DC and the creative team was waiting for the perfect moment…well they got it. It’s short, it’s brief, but intense and it has everything. I could honestly go on for a long time here; in short the comic is rough, beautiful, fun, well written and sexy. It’s everything you could wish for a Catwoman comic, or any for that matter. In my opinion it’s arguably the best Catwoman series out there, ever. But certainly the hottest thing in recent years. We can only hope that Winick and March stick with our favorite Cat-lady and continue this amazing comic for quite a while to come…
