Regisseur Shinkai, die de nieuwe Miyazaki (Spirited Away) wordt genoemd, creeerde met "5 cm per second" een werkelijk meeslepend verhaal over verloren jeugd vol pure emotie gevat in een schitterende animatiefilm.

Takaki en Akari zitten op de basisschool. Omdat ze beiden erg van lezen houden, worden ze beste vrienden. Maar dan verhuist Akari naar Tochigi, een stad ten noorden van Tokio. Toch verliezen beide vrienden elkaar niet uit het oog en sturen elkaar regelmatig brieven. Wanneer Takaki verhuist naar Kagoshima, in het zuiden van Japan, besluit hij nog een keer bij zijn vriendin langs te gaan.

Beautiful movie with a good storyline. This is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever saw. Not only the storyline is beautiful, but also the drawing are beautiful. You just fall in love with the colors when you're watching. you might only watch this because of the colors and drawings... Cause it's just soo beautiful:) But don't forget to pay attention for the storyline too :)

The movie 5 centimers per second is a story of two childhood-lovers/best friends who become seperated and are struggling to meet eachother again and to keep in contact even though they can't see eachother anymore.. The story is best classified as a romantic drama, though it keep short on the romance but delivers a detailed picture of the pain one goes through when we can't see the one we love.. This movie is really one of the best drama-movies I've seen and the soundtrack has been in my head for days, so just watch this movie and let yourself be moved by this amazing, heart-breaking story.

This movie is really one of the best drama-movies I've seen and the soundtrack has been in my head for days, so just watch this movie and let yourself be moved by this amazing, heart-breaking story.
