"A great ending to an excellent series" by Villain (Finland) on Oct 24, 2007

While the first two volumes had surprised me with their strong sense of style, I still expected the third and last DVD to be a letdown. After all, the previous volumes had pretty much covered most, if not all, angles of episodic agent-stories and there had been virtually no hints of a larger plotline. Thus, I was fully prepared for a bunch of independent episodes repeating the themes of the earlier ones without even a remotely conclusive finish.

Once again, however, the series managed to exceed my expectations, providing the strongest set of episodes on this last volume. Of the total of five episodes on the disc (a full DVD-only bonus episode included), two are stand-alone stories with heavy emotional scenes and plenty of character-development, while the last three form a great final story that ties in the plotlines from many individual episodes on ealier discs.

As should be expected, there's plenty of moral issues, military politics and shady (counter)espionage, plus some excellent fight-scenes with deadly results. Even though the story-elements are now in the forefront, the exquisite style and mood of the earlier volumes are still strongly present. Overall, 009-1 is a very unique, charming experience. I only wish there was more of it.

ADV's release of this series continues to be top-notch with flawless audiovisual quality and plentiful extras. I can't recommend this enough.
