"Action paced and great animation" by Tim Soutberg (Nederland) on Jul 25, 2008

Note: To enjoy Appleseed Ex Machina to the fullest, it is adviced to watch Appleseed (2004) first.

Animation:
Because my monitor did not support HDCP (high definition copy protection) I was forced to watch it in DVD kwality. What suprised me was the animation, it has improved a lot since Appleseed (2004). After playing with a HDCP supported monitor I was even more stunned by the beautiful animations.

Score: 4.5 of 5

Story:
The story was not much of an original concept, with clues and enemies so obvious for the watcher, yet invisible to the characters it was frustrating at times, but not frustrating enough to stop watching. There are parts in the story that are also very enjoyable, which kind of balances with the frustrating, however the further you get in the movie, the better the story gets.

Score: 3.5 of 5

Characters:
The characters in Appleseed (2004) and Appleseed: Ex Machina, aren't very deep and the story does not dive deeply into their backgrounds. At some times it becomes a little disapointing, but on the other hand keeps the movie flowing. With the charming, yet lethal lady Deunan and her good cyborg friend Briareos and their relationship it gives for a nice cast, along with other characters from the first installment and the new characters in this installment.

Score: 4 of 5

End conclusion:

For those who have seen Appleseed (2004) I think this is a worthy next installment to watch and for those who have not seen both, I advice you to watch both!

End score: 4 of 5
