Description

In return for a business loan of 50 million yen, the prestigious Kamiya family gave their daughter Haine away to the Otomiya family. Haine, now an Otomiya, is appointed to the student council of the exclusive Imperial Academy, a private school for the aristocracy. Even though Haine is of proper lineage to be on the council, she finds herself struggling to find her place among the many secrets of its elite members, especially those of the president who holds her heart - Shizumasa Togu, aka "the Emperor."

Haine has been in love with Shizumasa Togu since she read the fairy tale he wrote as a child. However, the Emperor is so well sequestered by the student council that she hasn't been able to speak to him in the three months she's been at the academy. And as rumor has it, he already has a lover...

Don't judge this one only on volume 1 later on it will get better

"A modern Cinderella story" by AnimeTiger (Nederland) on May 31, 2010

Cute girls, cute boys...it's Arina tanemura agian!
When you read this it's a kind of a modern cinderella story.
Romance, comedy and drama is really one of the elements by Arina.
In the beginning is it a bit difficult to understand but after that is it a nice story....see it by yourself.

"Artwork" by SilverShadow (Netherlands) on Jun 25, 2009

When it comes to artwork, this manga beats them all.
Only by looking at the artwork attracted me, I hear myself say: 'You must read this manga'. Also full of romance and comedy (my favorite genres).

After reading this manga and you're amazed by Tanemura's artwork, you really need to see her artbook of The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross.

I recommend this manga if you like romance that's not taken so serious.

"Regular love story with a few twists" by PhoebeGilmore (Netherlands) on Feb 22, 2009

The artwork in this manga is amazing. The girls are cute and the boys are... well, they're just very good-looking.
At first the story appears to be just a regular love story. Girl meets boy, girl falls in love, boy doesn't like girl that way etc. etc. etc.
But as the story advances there are many twists.
I love this manga.
Though if you are expecting another Magical Girl manga like other manga by Arina Tanemura, I have to disappoint you. It most definitely isn't.

"Somewhat unoriginal..." by Qianna (Nederland) on Jun 29, 2008

I read several manga from Arina Tanemura. I expected that it'd be a magical girl manga again, but it wasn't. That was certainly a pleasant surprise. The story is very nice, not too difficult and the art is beautiful. I can't say I'm very positive about the originality of the storyline though, for it is almost exactly the same as Imadoki from Yuu Watase. Also a girl with not much status in school and an airy attitude, she also falls in love with the most important boy in the rich-kids-school, also has complications with it, etc. Another thing is how easy they speak about falling in love. It made me wonder whether or not it really was love they were talking about, or just liking. Gentlemen alliance is nice to read, but nothing I'd become a huge fan of.

"Gentleman Alliance" by Sakuya Girl (Nederland) on May 9, 2008

"confusing but still read-worthy" by Muffistic (België) on Apr 15, 2008

I read 1 chapter before i bought the book and i must say that it's quit confusing. Everyone looks, on average, the same. That's when you read it for a first time... But i bought 2 volumes at once and i think that's a lot better. When i read the 2nd volume, i was getting used to the characters, their looks, and the names. The names! they're really confusing. They use nicks + names at the same time... But the story, i think it's well done. It's original, the characters are well done (when you're getting used to the names etc) and you could keep reading without stopping. Even while it's confusing, i would still advise it... At least, if you buy 2 volumes at once. Otherwise you won't get stuck in the story, what happens for sure when you read 2 volumes at once!
