Although light on action, it manages to stay interesting thanks to the many character developments. Expect to learn about the adventures of Akira's brother and the confrontation with the tennis club members. In terms of story the biggest progression we get a new verse of the Epitaph and it ends with a rather shocking development.

Aangezien ik alleen de eerste .hack// game gespeeld had, was ik best nieuwsgierig om het verdere verloop van het verhaal te weten. En dat verder verloop is awesome. Ik ben er zeker van dat zelfs al heb je de games gespeeld, deze light novels je nog steeds kunnen boeien - en bovendien geven ze je een beter inzicht in het verhaal vanwege het ander perspectief (uit de ogen van BlackRose).

.hack//MUTATION is seen as the weakest part of the four-part series on the Playstation 2. Luckily, the novel makes this much better. They added things from the third game rather early on, and they filled the boring pieces with BlackRose's real life. Read and find out how BlackRose and Mistral become closer!

Het vervolg is even meeslepend als het eerste gedeelte, en net zo super te lezen, een van de weinig series die me echt zo mee laat gaan, eenmaal begonnen met lezen stop je niet meer, uitkijken: verslavend bestempelt ;)
