"Enjoyable if a bit forgettable" by ChrisThe8Th (France) on Apr 21, 2014

The Sacred Blacksmith is not a terrible anime but it's plagued by a few problems that prevent it from being good. Character wise, it's a mix of good and bad: the main character Cecily is easy on the eyes for sure, with a nice outfit, but she also has a rather grating personality in the early episodes. It doesn't help she always repeats this annoying introduction every time she's about to fight. Luke is a socially challenged jerk (I can relate though) who plays the silent badass stereotype. He does it fairly well, I liked him. The demon sword Aria is probably the more likeable character in this anime as she's the sexy bombshell character with the really cheerful personality. Finally Lisa, is the typical young and cheerful moe character. The rest of the cast really don't stand out. Visually, the anime looks nice but the fight scenes are too short and not at all well animated. Story wise, this is where the anime falls flat on its face. The actual plot takes a while to actually be put forward, and when it does, it becomes your typical generic fantasy story. Doesn't at all help that the anime leaves you hanging at the end of the last episode, obviously hinting to a season 2 (which looks like it may not come out since this anime isn't exactly recent anymore). Also, it's considered in part as a harem anime, but honestly what makes a harem anime is near high non existant here. So, overall, I didn't hate it. I did enjoy some of it but felt it could have been so much more.
