Although I know that dot hack started off as a game, I haven't had the pleasure of playing it so my opinion is based on the anime entirely. The story and atmosphere certainly appeal to me as I am into JRPGs/Mmorpgs, so lots of parts in the anime just bring a chuckle since it's happened to me on numerous occasions. The characters are quite likeable and you do want to find out more about them both avatar and real life wise. Finally, the boxset is really nicely presented with one of those open up like a book/leaflet jobs. Much nicer than those boring old digipacks. Plus they also added 2 DVDs that retell events outside of "the World". A nice boxset to be sure.
